Avocados are not only delicious and contain the antioxidants very necessary side kick; they are also rich in vitamin E, which has also been linked to helping with asthma and asthma symptoms. That is just the beginning of the health benefits food can provide to those who suffer from asthma.

Rosemary
Another friend of the breathing challenged person can be rosemary. Rosmarinic acid can be found in rosemary and is said to have better antioxidant power than vitamin E. Rosmarinic acid also helps create prostacyclins which assists with keeping the air passages of the lungs open and promotes easy breathing. Rosemary is great for flavoring all different types of foods and fruits you can get the health benefits without actually thinking about it.

Ginger
A great flavor to be added to hundreds if not thousands of recipes that can also help alleviate asthma symptoms, ginger. Ginger is one of the oldest spices of all times and one of the most commonly used ingredients to home remedies. Ginger is well known for its cold treating miracles. It is said to be a great ally in the fight against asthma. Gingerols are said to be a very strong anti-inflammatory. It is the very substance that gives ginger its strong and unique flavor.

Sunflower Seeds
Little delicious snack that is loaded with nutrients is sunflower seeds. Vitamin E, potassium, magnesium are all great for fighting asthma symptoms and all can be found in sun flower seeds. These tiny seeds are yummy and are the least likely seed to cause an allergic reaction.

Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are also known to be highly un-likely to cause an allergic reaction. Asthma is frequently tied to an allergy so the less chance of a reaction the better. Sweet potatoes have great benefits for your heart as well as your hair and now asthma. They are packed with vitamin C and potassium. There are also root proteins, unique to sweet potatoes that may contain significant antioxidants.

Kale
Another amazing building block in the anti-asthma diet is kale. Kale is a very easy and healthy replacement for iceberg lettuce in your everyday salad. Kale contains vitamin C and beta-carotene. Beta carotene has multiple benefits for your body, starting with your heart and working all the way through to your skin. Beta carotene works side by side with antioxidants to fight free radicals within your body. Kale is one of the best sources of beta carotene other options to get this amazing benefit, broccoli, carrots, and sweet potatoes. All of which are on the higher dose side of beta carotene.

Tomato
Lycopene has been proven to decrease lung inflammation in asthmatics. Lycopene can be found in tomatoes. Tomatoes are always available and can be prepared in a plethora of ways.

Banana
Bananas have also been proven to contain some of the greatest compounds to decrease the chances of asthma. In confusing scientific terms Pyridoxine is found in bananas and is more commonly known as vitamin B6. Pyridoxine plays a huge role in the production of adenosine triphosphate and cyclic adenosine monophosphate production which have been proven to relax special bronchial muscle tissues. Studies have shown the drastic decrease of wheezing in children who have eaten at least one banana a day.

Read more about Banana and their Health Benefits here in our older post.

Kiwi
Another great fruit to incorporate into your diet to keep asthma symptoms to a minimum is kiwi. Kiwi is incredibly high in vitamin C. Studies show that vitamin C can decrease wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. A great amount of citrus fruit, including kiwi can keep your asthma attacks at bay.

There are even more foods available that can help decrease your asthma symptoms. Foods such as garlic, spinach, and flaxseeds are all great to help prevent asthma. Broccoli sprouts are a powerhouse for antioxidant compounds that help control airway inflammation. Buckwheat helps relax constricted airway muscles.

There are continuous studies being performed in regards to asthma and the prevention of it and its symptoms.

Fruit eating strategies

The way of Eating fruits - this opened my eyes

It's long but very informative

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA:Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation.. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine.. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE': (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Why You Should Forget Facebook

Has Facebook got you fooled?
Are you chasing likes for your brand page? Paying for fans? Maybe it’s time to stop.
In 2008 I joined Facebook. It was the first social media network I decided to place a stake in as my online social media home. It was fun, frivolous and free. Everyone was discovering the power of multimedia sharing of their life with friends and family. Facebook obsession was apparent and addictive. It was the new digital drug of choice and 6 years later it is the world’s largest social media playground.
What made Facebook cool was that you saw “all” your friends updates. It was hard to miss a “what I had for breakfast” share and see the latest drama and joy in a friends life.
What you shared appeared.

The Facebook “liking” frenzy

The success of personal Facebook profiles opened up the idea of Facebook for brands. So Facebook “pages” were launched! It was the start of Facebook becoming serious about monetising its business. Brands piled in and started to build their profiles on the big social network. Chasing fan “likes” became the new shiny marketing toy and tactic.
A big list of fans drove traffic and brand awareness for free. It is called “earned” marketing. For this blog it became the second biggest social media traffic source behind Twitter.
Then something changed.

Facebook decided to filter your updates

In 2013 Facebook floated. It became a public company and the shareholders demanded a return. The pressure was on. It had to make money from its advertising. It started to become pay to play. Facebook is deciding what updates you see and don’t see. It’s called a “News Feed algorithm”. It extends to Facebook pages and personal profiles.
Facebook is pushing you to advertise. To promote your post is now just a couple of clicks. Easy but it costs. One of the motivators to use Facebook as a page is now almost zero.Is there any point to chasing likes except for “social proof”. Some research is showing that only 4% or less of people are seeing your page updates in their newsfeeds when you post on Facebook. Here is some research from the 4129 agency on ZDnet.com showing the decline in just 12 months from 2012 to 2013.
It appears that in 2014 that organic reach is still in freefall. Zero is maybe not an unrealistic expectation. Is that possible? Jason Loehr, director of global media and digital marketing at Brown-Forman which owns the brands Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort thinks so.
The Ignite Social Media agency did an analysis in December 2013 and saw a 44% drop in brands organic reach in just 12 days.

Are big brands ignoring Facebook?

Beyonce announced her new album launch on Instagram not Facebook. This is despite having over 60 million fans on Facebook and only 8 million Instagram followers on Instagram. Maybe the advice by her digital agency was that it would receive more organic reach and visibility than Facebook.
This big drop in organic reach is making brands such as Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort Concentrating more on their “owned” channels such as websites, blogs and email.
Some companies such as Charity Engine are quitting Facebook. Is the age of free social media traffic from building fans and followers over?
Facebook is a leased digital property. You’re at their mercy and their aggressively tweaked news feed algorithm.

So what can you do?

There are two key strategies that you can pursue.
  1. Roll with the Facebook changes and adapt. This means tactics such as running more Facebook competitions and posting more news updates. The Steam feed blog has a good list of tactics worth checking out.
  2. Shift your focus from Facebook marketing reliance. Invest in building your owned online assets such as websites, blogs and email lists. Pursue an integrated digital marketing strategy!
So if you are a blogger or marketer that doesn't have a big brand budget and you want to earn your traffic by persistent effort, engagement and creating content then you do have some other options. So you may have to forget Facebook if you don't want to spend advertising dollars to reach the fans you have spent time and effort to acquire.

How to earn free earned and organic traffic

Here are some specific tactics to create online traffic and brand awareness without paying the new gatekeepers such as Facebook to reach your own fans.

1. Search engines

Before hitting publish on your blog make sure that you have optimized your post for search engines so you will be building your SEO. Make sure you know what your key words and phrases are that customers will be using to find you. Then create content that includes them in the headline, content and meta description. Plugins such as Yoast can provide easy guidance on those tasks.
Then continue to create and market content that covers the range of 20-50 keywords and phrases that you want to be found on Google for when potential customers start looking for answers to their questions and performing research.

2. Email marketing

Brands both big and small are growing their email lists. You should do this from day one. An email list is something you have control over. The simplest tactic is to offer something for free such as an ebook, an online video tutorial or some form of premium content.

3. Switch your social media focus

There are many other social media networks that will drive traffic to your blog and website that you don’t have to pay for. These include Twitter, Linkedin, Google+ and Pinterest to name a few. There are a couple of channels that have surprised me over the last 6 months. They are Flipboard (is starting to drive more traffic than Facebook) and even the often forgotten Stumbleupon.
Twitter is not filtered and its focus as a place for breaking news means that it is very unlikely that it will ever suffer the same fate as Facebook. Twitter for me has been my biggest social media traffic source and that came from focusing on building and engaging with my followers from the day I launched this blog.
If Facebook push this too far there is a real possibility they will push brands advertising into the arms of Twitter, Google+ and other social media and digital channels.
Maybe its time to forget Facebook for your free earned traffic?

What about you?

How are you reacting to Facebook’s filtering? Have your tactics changed? Are you focusing on other social media networks, email and content more?
Look forward to your feedback and insights in the comments below.

*THE WOMAN********

Please comment,  like and share in honor of women and girls

When God created woman, he was working late on the 6th day, and an angel came by and said...

ANGEL: why spend so much time on that one?

GOD: have you seen all the specifications I have to meet in order to shape her?: she must be
-washable,
-not made of plastic,
-have more than 200 moving parts which all must be replaceable
-she must function on all kinds of food.
-must be able to embrace several kids at the same time...
-give a hug that can heal anything from bruised knee to a broken heart..
-she must do all this with only two hands.

ANGEL: *angel was impressed* just two hands? Impossible, and this is the standard model? Too much work for one day, wait till tomorrow and then complete her..

GOD: I will not!!! I am so close to completing this creation, which will be the favorite of my heart....she cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day...

ANGEL: *came near and touched the woman*..but you have made her so soft Lord..

GOD: she is soft, but i also have made her strong, you cant imagine what she can endure and overcome...

ANGEL: can she think?

GOD: not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate..

ANGEL: *touched the woman cheek*..Lord, it seems this creation is leaking, you have put too many burdens on her....

GOD: she is not leaking...its a tear.

ANGEL: what is it for?

GOD: tears are her way of expressing grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her sufferings and her pride...

ANGEL: Lord, You are genius, you thought of everything, the woman is indeed marvelous......(Wow!!!)

GOD: indeed she is...
-woman has strengths that amazes men,
-she can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens,
-she holds happiness, love and opinions,
-she smiles when feeling like screaming,
-she sings when feeling like crying,
-cries when she is happy
-laughs when she is afraid
-she fights for what she believes in..
-stands up against in justice.
-she doesn't take no for answer when she can see better solution
-she takes her friend to a doctor if she is afraid
-her love is unconditional..
-she cries when her kids victorious
-she is happy when her friends do well
-she is glad when she hears a birth or a wedding
-her heart is broken when a next of kin or friend dies, but she gets the strength to get on with life..
-she knows that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart...
BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE THING WRONG WITH HER... :
SHE FORGETS WHAT SHE IS WORTH!

Let us resolve to doing good deeds towards these wonderful creation of God for "A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love"...

A Short Story on Self Confidence

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.

After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

“I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

Do not lose hope ...believe in  what you can  achieve if you trust your self and work hard (be optimistic and pragmatic) -try to allow the star in you to...... shine....

How test-tube meat could be the future of food

How test-tube meat could be the future of food

Source: Brandon Griggs, CNN

In a nondescript hotel ballroom last month at the South by Southwest Interactive festival, Andras Forgacs offered a rare glimpse at the sci-fi future of food.
Before an audience of tech-industry types, Forgacs produced a plate of small pink wafers -- "steak chips," he called them -- and invited people up for a taste. But these were no ordinary snacks: Instead of being harvested from a steer, they had been grown in a laboratory from tiny samples of animal tissue.
One taster's verdict on this Frankenmeat? Not bad, actually.
"It was delicious. It tasted like a thin piece of beef jerky," said Michael Wang, a program manager in Washington. "I would have never thought it wasn't real meat."

Forgacs is co-founder and CEO of Modern Meadow, a young company that is developing lab-engineered meat and leather products, also known as "cultured," "in vitro" or "test-tube" meat. He is among a new breed of youthful entrepreneurs who are applying tech-startup principles -- innovation, efficiency, data-driven processes -- to address the growing challenges of global food production.
"Once you start to see food as technology, as a form of hardware, you start to ask, why can't food get better?" asked Rob Rhinehart, CEO of Rosa Labs, a nutritional-science startup based in Los Angeles. "But there's a lot of disagreement about what our products are. Is it fake? Is it real?"

For those reasons, these biotech food entrepreneurs may face an uphill climb.
To an eating public increasingly focused on organic, farm-to-table food, cultured meat sounds unnatural and unappealing. A recent Pew survey found that 80% of Americans would not eat meat that was grown in a lab.
"Cultured meat is so new and such a radically different way of making meat to what has gone before," said Neil Stephens, a research scientist at the University of Cardiff in Wales who has been studying lab-engineered food products.
"There is an empirical question to answer about whether people will accept it as meat, and what criteria we use to define cultured meat as meat."

Problem ... and solution?
As these entrepreneurs see it, our current large-scale methods of raising meat are wasteful and harmful to the environment. Research supports this: Raising livestock, for example, requires massive amounts of water, pollutes rivers with manure and, according to the United Nations, produces an estimated 14.5% of global human greenhouse-gas emissions.
On top of that, global demand for meat is expected to double over the next 40 years, placing further strain on the planet's natural resources.
By comparison, lab-grown meat would leave a much lighter footprint and might eventually help alleviate food shortages in some parts of the world, advocates say.
They also say that cultured meat is more humane because no animals are slaughtered.

"It's the future," said entrepreneur Biz Stone, a vegan and co-founder of Twitter and Jelly. "We can't sustain the current model of raising enough animals to feed 7 billion people."
Spotting an opportunity, a handful of biotechnology startups have begun developing alternative food products. Using a formula developed at the University of Missouri, Beyond Meat takes plant protein from soy and peas and applies heating, cooling and pressure to realign it so that its structure resembles meat tissue. The company's fake chicken strips are in 4,000 stores across the United States and have fooled people in blind taste tests.

Hampton Creek Foods has received $30 million in funding for its business model, which revolves around a plant-based substitute for eggs. Its first product, a vegan mayonnaise called Just Mayo, hit stores in California last fall. And after a $2 million crowdfunding campaign Rosa Labs recently began mass-producing Soylent, a drink supplement aimed at meeting all the human body's nutritional needs.
"There's such a wide-open space for innovations if you're starting (a company) around food," said Hampton Creek Foods CEO Josh Tetrick.

But the most fascinating, and polarizing, startup in this emerging space is Modern Meadow. Launched in 2011 by Forgacs and his father Gregor Forgacs, a bioengineer, the company plans to make cultured leather products before tackling the thornier process of growing meat.
"You don't waste as much material (with cultured leather) because animals don't come in the shape of a couch or a handbag," said Andras Forgacs at the SXSW panel discussion in Austin, Texas.

To make cultured beef, Modern Meadow takes muscle cells from a steer and applies proteins to stimulate tissue growth. The tiny samples are placed in an incubator to grow, and later built in a petri dish, layer by layer, with the help of a 3D printer. The process can take weeks.
"We basically have a team of scientists who developed this," said Andras Forgacs. "The cost is astronomical."
How astronomical? Well, the world's first lab-grown burger, engineered by a scientist in the Netherlands, was cooked and served to food critics at a news conference last August in London. (Reviews of the burger were mixed.) The project, funded by Google co-founder Sergey Brin, cost some $325,000.

A cultural challenge
Manufacturing and cost barriers, plus the pokey federal regulatory process, mean that test-tube steaks won't be coming to your neighborhood supermarket anytime soon.
But they are coming, entrepreneurs say.
"We're in for a real revolution in the next decade or two," Forgacs said. Added Tetrick, "By 2030 we're going to see a drastic shift."
They and their fellow biotech entrepreneurs still face plenty of stumbling blocks. There's the issue of health: While lab-grown meat would likely be freer of bacteria and pesticides, its production also may require the use of artificial growth hormones.

Then there's the challenge of making consumers comfortable with eating meat that comes from a laboratory.
And if cultured meat doesn't taste good, nobody will try it more than once.
"It's not the science that's the most difficult part. The hardest part is our culture. We've been eating meat for 2 million years," said Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat. But, he added, "You can see the change coming when you sit down and talk to a child. No child wants to hurt an animal."

Not surprisingly, the U.S. beef industry is not excited by the prospect of lab-grown meat.
"We feel confident that consumers will continue to trust and prefer traditionally raised (not lab-engineered) beef. No laboratory product will ever be able to take the place of cattlemen and women or the dedication they have to the customer, the consumer, or to rural America," said Chase Adams, spokesman for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association.

"Regardless of market, I do not foresee engineered beef as a viable or attractive option for consumers."
Stephens, the University of Cardiff researcher, believes the idea of cultured meat is still too new for most people to wrap their heads around. Is it really meat, or is it something else?
"If you ask the biologists working on it ... many of them will tell you it will be meat when the material composition of the cultured meat is sufficiently similar to traditional meat," he said. "I am a sociologist, so to me the meaning of something is not defined by its material properties but by how society more broadly makes sense of ... (it).
"Cultured meat is still very new in the public imagination, and I think many people are still working out what they think about it."
