Benefits of Broccoli

                                      Broccoli
Helps prevent Cancer
Contains a powerful antioxidant and anti-carcinogen that hinders the growth of breast, cervical and prostate cancer.
Reduces Cholesterol
Broccoli is packed with soluble fiber that draws cholesterol out of your body.
Powerful Antioxidant
Of all the cruciferous vegetables, broccoli stands out as the most concentrated source of vitamin C, plus the flavonoids necessary for vitamin C to recycle effectively. Also concentrated in broccoli are the carotenoids lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-carotene, other powerful antioxidants.
Detoxifies
Broccoli contains an unusual combination of three phytonutrients, glucoraphanin, gluconasturtiian, and glucobrassicin. Together these nutrients have a strong impact on our body’s detoxification system.
Helps prevent Heart Disease and Stroke
Broccoli contains lutein, which helps to fight heart disease by preventing the thickening of arteries.
Fights Birth Defects
A cup of broccoli has 94 mcg of folic acid, which is a B vitamin essential for proper fetus cellular division.
Prevents Colds
It contains a high level of Vitamin C, which enhances the absorption of iron and alleviates the common cold.
Helps prevent Osteoporosis
Broccoli contains more calcium than dairy and contains Vitamin K, which promotes bone health and prevention of osteoporosis.
Regulates Blood Pressure
The levels of calcium, potassium and magnesium help regulate blood pressure.
Increases Eye Health
Broccoli improves eye health due to high concentrations of two carotenoids in it—lutein and zeaxanthin—which play an important role in the health of the eye.
Helps in weight loss
Broccoli is a smart carb and is high in fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating. Furthermore, a cup of broccoli has as much protein as a cup of rice or corn with half the calories.
Helps battle allergies and inflammation
Broccoli is a particularly rich source of a flavonoid called kaempferol, which helps to battle allergies and inflammation.
High in Fiber
Fiber helps to lower cholesterol and aids in digestion.
Decreases Blood Sugar Levels
Broccoli has high levels of soluble fiber and chromium which helps maintain low blood sugar.
Fights Diabetes
Due to the high fiber and low sugar content, insulin can be kept to a minimum.
Alkalizes your body
Broccoli helps keep your body less acidic.
Overall, it’s best to eat broccoli raw. The easiest way to consume a lot of raw broccoli is by juicing it. The next best way is to make a healthy and nutritious dip in order to dip it in. But if you prefer to have broccoli cooked, then lightly steaming it is the next best option.
Avoid overcooking broccoli because half of its beneficial substances may be destroyed in the process. And avoid microwaving it because doing so removes valuable nutrients from it.
